Translation

(42-1) Once I was going to spend a night in Old Nelemnoe. (42-2) We were mowing the grass and it started raining. (42-3) I got all wet. (42-4) I entered a house, but there was no oven in the house. (42-5) I lay down, listening to the noises and songs I heard from outside. (42-6) I thought: "Is this the people who mow the grass coming? Why can I hear singing?" (42-7) I fell asleep and was dreaming. While I lay there sleeping, somebody took me and threw me down from the bed to the floor. (42-8) I woke up and saw that I was lying on the floor. (42-9) I started thinking about who had thrown me onto the floor. (42-10) I thought that I had jumped down from the bed in my sleep. (42-11) I lay down again. (42-12) As soon as I got to sleep, somebody threw me down onto the floor. (42-13) It hurt. (42-14) There was no way I could get to sleep. (42-15) I was trembling from fear with my heart beating fast. (42-16) I hardly survived until morning. (42-17) I went out of the house backwards. (42-18) I ran away when it was still dark. (42-19) I sat in the boat. It was raining. (42-20) Many people escaped from there. (42-21) One man brought twelve dogs and lit a fire. (42-22) He was thrown out of the bed three times. They didn't let him sleep. (42-23) Soon after that he died. (42-24) That house was called the ghost house.
