Meetings and presentations

The Finno-Ugrian Society organizes approximately 9 meetings every year. Each meeting includes a presentation.

The meetings will usually be held from September to May on the third Friday of each month. Unless otherwise announced, meetings will take place in the House of Science and Letters, hall 104 (Kirkkokatu 6, Helsinki). Meetings begin at 18:15. Meetings in December are annual meetings of the Finno-Ugrian Society, and they will always be held on the 2nd of December.

Our meetings are free of charge and open to everybody. Welcome!

 

Meetings in Spring Semester

19 January. M.A. Minerva Piha: Saamelaisia, skandinaaveja vai joitakuita ihan muita? Keski-Ruotsin varhaisrautakausi kielitieteen ja arkeologian näkökulmista.

16 February. Prof. Luobbal Sámmol Sámmol Ánte (Ante Aikio): Uralic Etymological Dictionary – kurkistus tulevaan etymologiseen sanakirjaani.

16 March. Prof. Asko Parpola: Missä arkeologisissa kulttuureissa indoeurooppalaiset ja uralilaiset kielet ovat syntyneet ja levinneet? Vastausehdotuksia kielihistorian ajoitusten ja paikannusten ongelmiin.

20 April. Ph.D. Timo Salminen: M.A. Castrén tutkimusmatkailijana.

18 May. Adjunct professor Terhi Ainiala (the topic will be announced later).
