The dead people

Comment

Recorded from Nikolaj Lixachev in 1986. Traditionally the Yukaghir believed that after death the human body remains on the earth, while the human soul or shadow ajbi: goes to the lower world called ajbid'i: to be with its dead relatives. Ajbid'i: looks like the real world, but does not have a sun, see Text 40. Elderly Yukaghirs sometimes say that they visit their dead relatives in ajbid'i: in their dreams.
