Editor’s introduction

The editor’s lexeme before each paradigm shows the phonologic form of the verb in that particular dialect, and contains a link to the base lexeme in the vocabulary.

Text in black is Castrén’s (original or translated into English, sometimes both, separated by a slash), text in grey is the editor’s.

Aorist

Objective conjugation

394

The Karasino dialect takes for the verbal ending -am (-ang) -engam in aorist-future [= aorist and aorist with desiderative derivation]. Not after consonant, e.g. eramnang. -rnam (-ng) = -nnam is not lengthened. The preterite ending -sam is not lengthened. By the lengthening the accent is drawn forward and due to this, a consonant gemination appears, however not always, e.g. tjaatetjengam (long vowel). This whole transformation is a result of the advance of the accent.

ćātə-

1S tjaatam 394 2S tjaatal 3S tjaatîd

In Karasino dialect 1D ends on i (with preceding consonant) [ie. consonant stems -ni, instead of Taz -nei (actually -i also in vowel stems)].

[Nothing further is said about verbs in the Karasino grammar. In the Taz grammar notes or paradigms from Karasino sometimes appear. The occassional notes are found in the Taz section, complete paradigms are here.]
